Renkus-Heinz Enhances Acoustics at Croatia’s St. Francis Church
The Church and Monastery of St. Francis, a medieval site in Pula, Croatia, recently enhanced its acoustics with the help of Renkus-Heinz speakers. Known for its historic architecture, the church frequently hosts worship services, concerts, and exhibitions, but its stone walls and high ceilings posed significant acoustic challenges. Reverberation and sound reflections often compromised clarity, making it difficult for attendees to hear speech or music distinctly.
Renkus-Heinz’s Croatian distributor, LAV Projekt, installed a cutting-edge audio system tailored to the church’s unique needs. The project featured the Iconyx Compact ICC36/3 active digital beam-steerable loudspeakers, which precisely direct sound toward the congregation while reducing echoes. This advanced technology ensures clear and focused audio without interfering with the church’s aesthetic appeal. Two ICC36/3 units were placed strategically between the sanctuary and nave, while UBX4 passive directional loudspeakers provided additional sound coverage for the apse and altar areas.
An additional UBX8 speaker was installed in the monastery atrium, ensuring seamless audio coverage in the courtyard. The entire system was fine-tuned using Renkus-Heinz’s OmniBeam software, enabling precise control of sound beams to match the space’s acoustic requirements.
This project not only highlights Renkus-Heinz’s ability to integrate modern technology into historic settings but also demonstrates how thoughtful audio design can enhance worship experiences and cultural events. The collaboration successfully combined precision audio solutions with respect for the church’s heritage, making it a landmark project for Renkus-Heinz in Croatia.
