Life City Church, a growing multicultural congregation in South London, has significantly enhanced its audio capabilities with the installation of a new K-array sound system. Supplied by Audio Related Technology and distributed by 2B Heard, the compact, high-performance setup replaces the church’s aging Turbosound PA, which had become inefficient for the portable nature of their worship services held at Woodcote High School in Coulsdon.

The church sought a solution that could deliver professional sound quality while being easy to set up and transport. With a total audio budget of £60,000, including speakers, microphones, and in-ear systems, portability and cost-efficiency were key. The final system features the Pinnacle-KR402, comprising Kayman-KY102 compact line arrays paired with Thunder-KMT21 subwoofers, offering a streamlined and modular stereo PA configuration.

Pastor Steve Sutherland praised the system for its sound clarity and convenience, noting that setup takes less than 10 minutes. “Portability was a big deal for us,” he explained, adding that the system is future-proof for eventual installation in a permanent facility. Professional musicians who have played at Life City have also commended the system’s clarity, low-end punch, and balanced frequency response.

Simon Connell-Flynn, the church’s regular audio engineer, reported a dramatic improvement in sound quality, stating that the new setup offered fuller, more articulate audio with consistent volume and clarity throughout the venue. Additionally, the minimalist design of the K-array system blends visually into the worship space, avoiding distractions during services.

The installation process was seamless, with remote support provided by Dave Wooster of 2B Heard. His ability to fine-tune the system settings remotely on a Sunday morning exemplifies the high level of service accompanying the product.
