How Givelify Revolutionized Digital Giving for Churches and Nonprofits
If you’ve ever given digitally to your church or a favorite charity, you’ve likely used Givelify, a platform that has revolutionized the way donations are made. Givelify’s founder, Wale Mafolasire, was driven by personal frustration when he created the app—he often found himself without cash or a check to fulfill his giving promises during church services. From that need, the idea for Givelify was born.
Mafolasire’s journey to bring Givelify to life wasn’t easy. He faced more than 300 rejections while trying to secure funding and support. Ultimately, it was trusted friends, family, and Black clergymen like Bishop Walter Scott Thomas and Dr. Jerry Young who believed in his vision and provided the backing he needed.
Today, digital giving accounts for 88% of donations, surpassing traditional methods, according to Givelify’s 2024 “Giving in Faith” report. Across generations, givers cited helping those in need as their primary motivation, with Baby Boomers seeing giving as a core part of their faith. Interestingly, a significant portion of Gen Zers expressed skepticism about faith-based organizations’ effectiveness in creating change.
Givelify’s success isn’t just about the convenience it offers; it’s also about the company’s commitment to customer service. Rev. Lincoln A. Graham Jr. of Oneness Pentecostal Tabernacle in New York praised Givelify’s responsiveness to his church’s needs. Deacon James Daniels of Greater Mount Sinai COGIC in Milwaukee echoed this sentiment, highlighting the platform’s efficiency and convenience, allowing funds to be credited the next day and simplifying the church’s financial operations.
Mafolasire’s invention has not only made giving easier but has also transformed the way churches and nonprofits manage their finances, providing them with predictable cash flow and greater financial stability.
