Compact K-array Audio Upgrade Elevates Worship Experience
Oaks Church in McKinney, Texas, has upgraded its worship room audio with the K-array Pinnacle KR802 II loudspeaker system, drastically reducing the size of its equipment while maintaining high-quality sound. The compact setup—just two column units—replaces the church’s previous eight-speaker plus subwoofer system, all while delivering equal or better coverage in a sanctuary that seats fewer than 500 attendees.
Abner Cruz, media and production director at Oaks Church, praised the K-array system’s performance, noting his surprise at the power and clarity produced by such a compact speaker design. The positive reaction from the congregation and even the lead pastor further validated the decision. “Wow, this sounds really good,” the pastor remarked after hearing it in use during a Sunday service.
This installation was part of Church Production’s Road Test User Experience, during which Cruz and his team trialed the system. The KR802 II system includes vertical column speakers with subwoofers at the base. It is a two-way powered setup featuring digital signal processing (DSP) built directly into the subs, offering advanced control through network or laptop connections via Ethernet.
Cruz highlighted the flexibility of the system, which is not only suited for fixed installations but also ideal for portable churches. The system can be fully deployed or disassembled in under 10 minutes, offering convenience for temporary worship spaces. Additionally, the rich DSP functionality supports advanced settings such as limiters and presets, and even includes a built-in media player—features often found in commercial and theatrical installations.
This streamlined, high-performance system from K-array represents a shift in how small-to-mid-size churches can approach worship audio—prioritizing portability, audio fidelity, and simplicity without sacrificing power or coverage.
