The Church of Sant’Erasmo in Castel Goffredo, Italy, recently completed a significant church sound system upgrade by installing a Martin Audio O-Line micro-array. The historic sanctuary, known for its reverberant acoustics and architectural complexity, required a modern solution capable of delivering clear, intelligible speech and enhancing musical performances, particularly those involving the church choir.

The previous system had become outdated and ineffective, prompting parish priest Don Giuseppe Bergamaschi and the parish to seek a replacement that could meet both liturgical and concert needs. They enlisted Piacenza-based integrator Inside Srl for the project. After conducting performance tests and acoustic simulations in partnership with Audiosales, Martin Audio’s distributor, Inside proposed a custom installation using O-Line’s 2-way vertical array, selected for its clear speech projection and minimal visual impact. Each side of the sanctuary now features four O-Line elements in white, seamlessly blending with the church’s interior.

To ensure full coverage near the altar, the team added a pair of Martin Audio CDD8W loudspeakers mounted on columns for fill duties. The combination of systems now supports spoken word and music performances with equal clarity, significantly improving the worship experience for congregants and performers alike.

In addition to enhancing in-person sound, the church requested integration for live broadcast. Now, Masses and celebrations are transmitted via local radio station Radio Alfa, offering high-quality streaming of both audio and video. This hybrid approach supports parishioners who participate remotely during weekday and Sunday services.

The Church of Sant’Erasmo’s upgrade demonstrates how modern sound systems can transform worship spaces while respecting historical architecture.
