YouVersion Bible App Hits Record 798K Installs in a Day
The YouVersion Bible App achieved a historic milestone on January 5, with 798,000 installations in a single day, breaking its previous record. According to Bobby Gruenewald, founder of YouVersion and a pastor at Life.Church, the app engaged 18.2 million users globally on that day. This surge aligns with the seasonal trend of increased Bible engagement at the beginning of the year as people set new habits.
The app saw notable growth in regions such as Northern Africa, the Middle East, and Asia. Activity increased by 198% in Ethiopia, 94% in Egypt, and 74% in Turkey. Northern Africa experienced a 297% growth, while the Middle East saw a 166% rise in activity.
YouVersion’s popular Bible Plans, which offer daily devotionals and help users engage with Scripture, were highlighted as a key driver of engagement. Features like “Plans with Friends” encourage community involvement, fostering consistency in Bible reading.
Since its launch in 2008, YouVersion has been installed on over 850 million devices and is available in 2,100 languages. In 2024, the app reported an average of 11.2 million monthly installs and 14 million daily users. Gruenewald emphasized the app’s mission to make Bible engagement a sustainable daily practice.
