Custer Road United Methodist Church (Custer Road UMC) in Plano, Texas, has resolved long-standing acoustic challenges in its sanctuary by implementing Eastern Acoustic Works (EAW) AC6 ADAPTive loudspeaker technology. The church’s traditional architecture, featuring high ceilings and wraparound balconies, previously caused sound quality issues that hindered the worship experience. This audio upgrade has transformed the space, enabling clear, consistent sound throughout the sanctuary.

During a demonstration of the EAW AC6 system led by Highway Marketing, church leadership recognized its potential. The adaptive technology offered precise sound coverage and seamless integration with the sanctuary’s updated aesthetic. Following the demonstration, Custer Road UMC worked with Electro Acoustics to design and install a system tailored to their needs. The setup includes triple-stacked AC6 speakers for the main sanctuary, EAW MKD526 Loudspeakers for under-balcony fills, and SB828P Subwoofers for enhanced bass response. Custom-painted speakers further blended with the church’s color scheme, ensuring the system complemented the sanctuary’s aesthetics.

The AC6 ADAPTive technology, powered by EAW’s Resolution software, delivered solutions to complex acoustical issues, including microphone feedback and sound distribution in a space with 43-foot-high ceilings. The result is improved clarity for sermons and musical performances, creating a more immersive worship experience.

Jim Carter, Director of A/V and Computer Services at the church, expressed appreciation for the upgrades, noting the congregation’s positive feedback. “This new system has dramatically improved audio intelligibility, allowing every seat to feel connected to the service,” he said.

By combining state-of-the-art Adaptive EAW Audio Technology with traditional architecture, Custer Road UMC has created a worship environment that engages attendees both visually and acoustically.
